Adoption Weekend

Last Thursday afternoon, we headed to our family land in New Braunfels. NB is only 45 minutes from San Antonio, where we finalized Layla Faith's adoption Friday morning. Our attorneys are based in Houston but do a lot of work out of the Bexar County Courthouse (friendlier, more open and easier than working with Harris County). We arrived at the courthouse at 8AM (met up with Aunt Lori, Allison & Toby) and entered the courtroom around 8:40. We were the 6th of 7 adoption cases that morning. During our short wait, Layla Faith learned to clap! Judge Sakai was very nice and everything went smoothly - we all filed out, 7 happy families, by 9:45!

We were all hungry and excited to find a Mexican Cafe right across the street from the Courthouse. It's been awhile since we've had a Mexican food breakfast and Lori and I LOVE breakfast tacos with refried beans.

That afternoon, we did some shopping at the Outlet Mall in San Marcos. Daniel, Amber & the boys arrived around 8PM. Mom, Dad & J. T. got in around 11PM. (We were all well asleep by then!) We spent the rest of the weekend swimming in the river, taking buggy rides, watching deer, eating well and being merry in general. This morning, we hit the Gruene Trade Days before heading home.

It's been a great weekend and we hate to see it end! Tomorrow, we kick off Birthday Season..
