where we are!

we're in the process of completing our application for depelchin - to get the ball rolling for our second adoption.

all three of us have doctors appointments tomorrow - for checkups and TB tests. by friday, we'll have our application completed with our clean bills of health and plan to make the trip downtown to drop it off.

tomorrow is shae's first day of CDO for this year. she'll be going two days a week from 9A - 2P.

shae funnies:

sharing. we've been working on sharing. the part of the concept she grasps is that we are supposed to share with her -- one way sharing. lori makes great guacamole so one of our favorite treats and things to do is sit around the breakfast table eating chips and guac. shae OWNS the chip bag. she sits with one hand in the bag - waiting to finish the chip in her mouth so she can put another one it and then put her hand back in the bag to wait. when we need chips, she won't relinquish the bag. we ask her to share and she says no. she gets upset with us for taking the bag from her for the 5 seconds it takes to get a handful. as soon as we take the bag, she says, "mama share!" or "maya share!"

the elbow phenomena. six or eight months ago, shae become aware of her elbow and will touch things with her right elbow. it's the funniest thing. when she's inspecting something new, she'll touch it .. sometimes sniff it .. and then touch it with her elbow. it totally cracks us up because we're like where in the world did she get that from.

fit throwing. since turning two, as if right on cue, she's gotten into the habit of dramatically throwing herself on the floor if she doesn't get her way. this behavior gets no response from us (other than behind the scenes chuckles). mostly, she doesn't even cry. just throws herself down and then looks up at us to see if we see her.

baby wipe sniffing. she sniffs baby wipes.. like huffs them. lori is worried .. :-P

scary monkey. last month, we went to the rainforest cafe. on the water ride, a monkey swung down from above and startled her. i think, at least once a day since then, she reminds us that, "monkey scare me." the other day, she was singing a song in complete, undecipherable baby gibberish and then in the middle of it she sang about, "monkey scare me."

baby gibberish. she talks 90 to nothing - huge dissertations - complete with facial expressions and hand gestures - we may recognize every 20th word - and then she cracks up laughing. that makes us laugh so she'll do it all over again.

potty training. we're doing pretty well with potty training. when she goes to the potty, she sits down and is either lightning fast or fully intending to make it a 20 minute affair. a few days ago, she sat for 2 seconds, jumped up and said, "all done!" and was still peeing. peed all over the bathmat. she was watching herself pee on the mat like she had no idea how that was happening. it was hilarious. usually, she sits down and tells us to sit down. she props her elbows on her knees and starts a long conversation. see "baby gibberish" above.
