shae's world is getting bigger as her mobility increases. she's super-fast on all fours. she has perfect balance and has all the skills she needs to walk - EXCEPT the desire to do so. when i say perfect balance - she can stand up, squat into a catchers position for 15-20 seconds, clap her hands, stand back up and drink 8 oz of milk all without holding onto anything or losing her balance but when it comes time to move, it's down to hands and knees.
it's hard to pin down her first word. she's been saying tata for awhile now but we're not sure if she's just mimicking us. she definitely knows and says the word "dog." everytime she sees a dog - she says dog. she points to dogs in books and on posters. she can say, "mama," but doesn't say it very often. she can also say, "shae shae," "shoe," "sissy," and "hi." she knows, "bud," but her b's sound like d's, so it's hard, sometimes, to tell if she's saying bud or dog.
she loves drumming. i'll end this post with a picture of a common sight around our house - a little arm extending as high as it can go to reach the top of the snare or high hat with a drumstick.
she loves cheerios, dry and in milk. after her breakfast, she helps us finish ours.
saturday, she perfected drinking from a straw.
she transitioned from formula to whole milk without a hitch. that's warm milk. cups containing cold milk get immediately thrown.
she loves vegetables and will eat just about anything. she's very much into feeding herself - especially green beans.
she loves books and will flip thru every page until she reaches the back cover and then start flipping the pages in reverse.
she's now had roseola, the beginnings of pneumonia and pink eye.
she loves swimming on her belly (with support, of course!) and will kick her feet to swim between lori and me. she doesn't mind being splashed in the face or dipped underwater (going under gets a surprised/wide-eyed expression but no tears).
she loves dancing, a skill that she learned from the teletubbies. as soon as she hears music, a foot starts tapping, hip shaking, or shoulders turning. sometimes, she's even dancing with the beat. she'll speed up and slow down with the music.
her first vacation was to moody gardens and her favorite thing there was the aquarium. i'd say the discovery pyramid was second.. and may have been the biggest hit but she was a little sleepy that morning.
she loves being chased and being turned upside down. her favorite song is peanut butter sandwich by raffi. her favorite possession is her green lion (lovey) blanket. her favorite toy, i'd say, is lori's drum set.
she spends almost all of her time with us, tata, paw paw, nanny, norla & brad, amber & davis and it's very obvious! these are about the only people she'll go to.
